COVID-19 Response Fund

July 30, 2020 Update

Dear Friend of Boulder Community Health,

It has been roughly four months since the Boulder Community Health Foundation launched the COVID-19 Response Fund which supports our most critical asset at BCH, our people, as well as removing any barriers to providing the best possible treatment for COVID-19. We cannot begin to thank the community enough for their tremendous support as we navigate our way through the global pandemic. It has been some time since you have heard from us, so we put together an update to show how your support is making a continued impact at BCH.

SUPPORT OUR MOST CRITICAL ASSET AT BCH, OUR PEOPLE

COVID-19 Employee Assistance Fund is available to all BCH employees to provide emergency aid for financial challenges during this unprecedented time. The fund is available to help with unforeseen hardship caused by pandemic-related loss of income – living expenses, child care and other bills. As of July 23rd, 171 grants have been issued to support our employees totaling $226,827.67 in funding.

Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE)

The BCH Foundation significantly invested in Personal Protective Equipment for BCH staff which included items like masks, gloves, gowns and more to protect against the transmission of COVID-19.
In addition, BCH greatly benefited from community support through donations of PPE:

  • 5,376 N-95 Masks
  • 4,240 KN95 Masks
  • 1,050 Face Shields
  • 400 Misc. Eye Protection
  • 40,000 Surgical Masks
  • 700 Shoe Covers
  • 700 Boxes of New Gloves

Expand Our Reach

As BCH modifies clinic operations in response to the COVID-19 virus, we are committed to finding safe and convenient ways for the community to get the high-quality care that ambulatory patients need, expect and deserve. The Foundation is supporting expansion of BCH telehealth capabilities and building out the “hospital-at-home” program.

Well over 11,000 telehealth visits: 4,000+ Video Visits and 7,000+ Phone Visits

Flex Training of
Staff & Physicians

Over 400 BCH staff from more than 50 departments
went above and beyond and took continued education courses (didactic training, skills labs, shadow shifts, competency maintenance) to be redeployed and cross-trained to meet the needs of the pandemic.

BCH’s extensive planning in the early stages of the pandemic have adequately prepared us for a surge in COVID-19 cases in the upcoming weeks and months, if one was to occur. Your support the last four months has enabled us to take care of our front line providers as well as ensure we are providing the best treatment for COVID-19. The pandemic is not over and we still need your support. You have our commitment that we will continue to put 100% of your donations to work in support of the stated priorities.

In the meantime, on behalf of approximately 2,400 staff and physicians hard at work at BCH, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for all you have done for your community health system.
